The History of the New Majority

In the Spring of 2005, New Majority expanded in to Los Angeles, forming a Los Angeles Chapter.

The 2004 election has been our most successful to date. In addition to our President, the New Majority celebrated many other great victories.

Orange County Republican Party Chairman Scott Baugh, supported by a $125,000 NMC contribution, should be commended for all of his work on this election cycle. Baugh wrapped up the most successful central county voter registration drive in recent history. He has focused his efforts on making all seats in the county competitive. The New York Times reported that in Orange County, President Bush held the highest margin of victory of any county in the nation.

In the US Senate, the New Majority supported several candidates, including Mel Martinez in Florida and John Thune in South Dakota. Thune’s win is truly historic. He has made history by defeating the sitting Democrat Senate Minority Leader, Tom Daschle. From the beginning, many of our members supported Thune. David Hanna should be congratulated for all of his hard work on this campaign.

The election of Governor Schwarzenegger has sparked a renewal of interest and excitement in the message of our Grand Old Party. The New Majority was proud to stand on the frontline of the effort to elect Arnold governor, and today remains standing side by side in his effort to restore fiscal sensibility in Sacramento.
